In this beginner-friendly 40 minute workshop, you’ll learn how 3D Modeling and 3D Printing work together to bring ideas to life. You’ll also learn the basics of creating your own designs using Onshape.
We’ll start with a breakdown of 3D Printing technologies, and cover how the process generally works. You’ll learn the difference between filament-based (FDM), resin-based (SLA), and powder-based (SLS) printing methods.
After that, we’ll dive into Onshape, a free browser-based 3D Modeling program. We’ll cover four different tools: the Extrude, Revolve, Sweep, and Loft. We’ll also walk through a hands-on project where we use these tools to create an original design.
Finally, we’ll set up this design in PrusaSlicer and run it on my Prusa Mini+ 3D printer. There is also an accompanying Google Document with instructions on how to get your own designs printed, as well as helpful tips and tricks for using Onshape.
