- [Rik] So we just got a
brand new email from Aria, she's replied and hi, unfortunately is never usually a good sign, but let's see what she says. So hi Rik, unfortunately, I don't have a logo or any kind of design, my work is pretty colorful and I'd like that to be center stage, okay, so no logo, no design,
it's kind of up to us. I have my art though, maybe that can help inspire your work? I've attached some tag lines and some of my art however - I can write some notes on each piece if you'd like to.
00:25
For the site, I only need a few pages: Work, About, and Contact. Can we add my Instagram and email in the footer too, is that okay? So I've downloaded the artwork which is down here you can actually get this if you click the
link in the corner right now or underneath the video. And in here we have,
click click, we can see we have an about.txt which I can open up in any kind of text editor, so I'm just gonna quickly open it up in something like this, so here we've got a tagline and the bio.
00:52
It's pretty good, I mean sometimes you don't have this stuff and we have to make it up and force the client into making this, but
it's some kind of start. What else do we have in here? Well we have some of her work, here it is, it looks pretty good, very
geometric and colorful. There's the headshot as well. So we have something to start with. So this is something that
we can actually work with, there's still things that
we don't have though.
01:15
So what don't we have right now? Well we don't have a website,
we don't have a logo, and we don't have a color scheme, and we don't have any typography. So these are things that we can say this is what we can work out for you. So, at this point, there's kind of a few options we can do. We could say, here is
the budget for this work and let me know if this is good. The other thing that I like to do, this is personal preference, is we can start to wireframe the site up before we actually negotiate a budget.
01:44
And the reason for this,
wireframes super easy to make, takes very very short amount of time to actually do this stuff. Now I'm not gonna do any of the logo wireframe in for now, I'm just gonna focus on the page. That's kind of the core of this work, but we know that she needs a logo, we know that we need some branding, let's go along this, we know that we need some site design, we know that we need some
site development as well, so there's basically
four parts to this brief that we've kind of worked out now.
02:13
So what we're gonna do is we're gonna reply back to this email and we say, yep that's totally fine, we're gonna some wireframes for you, we're gonna work out a rough idea of what's going on in our head to see if that matches up with what our site looks like in her head. So I'm gonna quickly reply to this and say this is what we're gonna do next. Here we go, in reply.
02:34
Okay, so I finished the email now and I've said, that sounds great, just to confirm you'll be needing: a logo, a site brand,
so what I mean by that is colors and typography, just to make it super clear she knows what that is. A site design, the coding of the website, and putting it live. If this is correct, I can draw up some wireframes just to confirm a rough structure for the site, and then I can give you a budget on this, does this sound okay? So I'm gonna send this email.
02:58
Try not to put too much
stuff in this email, not trying to add too many variables to this right now, so what I'm gonna do is just quickly send this email and
we'll see what she says.
